Beach in Curaçao (c) Curaçao Tourist Office
In the sixteenth century a very curious law was imposed on the island. Due to the continuous migraines that the inhabitants had, it was decided to paint the colored houses. Apparently the Caribbean sun and white sand caused headaches continuously to its inhabitants. So, they decided to avoid the white colors and all the inhabitants should paint the walls of their houses in bright colors.
Holland and Caribbean. Without a doubt, a very curious contrast that catches my attention.

Tourism in Curaçao is recent and thanks to this they have taken care of the architecture to build an ecological tourism and buildings of small proportions. The visits are mainly concentrated in the Dutch market. There is barely an average of 2,000 Spaniards a year and it is happening to me to steal a few days from my next trip to Venezuela to visit the island. Curaçao is 40 minutes away from Caracas and there are 5 daily connections between both capitals.
So you see me taking a look at the connections between Caracas airport and Willemstad to enjoy the island for a few days. If everything goes well, on the way back I will tell you my experience for Curaçao.
